Description

The BCS-X2W/IP10-II is a set of active converters for transmitting Ethernet data and PoE power using two wires, e.g. a single pair of UTP cable. The set enables the installation of cameras or other PoE IP devices in locations where replacing the existing cabling is impossible or uneconomical. It is characterised by high resistance to external interference.

Main applications:

  • installation of PoE IP cameras in place of existing analogue cameras
  • for LAN + PoE transmission via a UTP cable in which some of the conductors have been mechanically damaged
  • replacing a traditional doorphone with an IP video doorphone
  • using a telephone cable for Ethernet data transmission
  • Installation of VoIP telephones on existing telephone cabling
  • Installation of PoE IP cameras in lifts using the existing drop cable

Thanks to its high resistance to interference, it can be used on any type of cable; however, maximum transmission distances may vary depending on the type of cable. The converter kit works best with UTP twisted-pair cable. Adequate shielding against electromagnetic interference and the twisting of the wires in the 2-wire configuration have a positive effect on transmission range. The maximum cable length in a 2-wire configuration is 1,000 metres.

For cables other than UTP twisted-pair, the maximum range and bandwidth may differ from those specified. Factors such as cable quality, the number of connectors on the cable run, damage to the insulation and environmental conditions at the installation site may affect the actual transmission distance and should be taken into account during design.

The Ezasilany module is powered from any PoE switch (RJ45 port) and, via two wires, enables bidirectional network communication and powers both the module and the PoE camera.

Transmission and power supply are indicated by LEDs:

  • PWR – The device is powered
  • LINK LED – Indicates data transmission between modules
  • LED on the RJ45 port (yellow) – PoE power present on the port
  • LED on the RJ45 port (green) – link and data transmission
  • LV LED – Low voltage (<44V) on the device

The LV LED flashes to indicate that the voltage at the receiver has dropped below 44V DC. It can be reset by switching the device off and then switching it back on.

If it lights up, this indicates that the power supply to the unit needs to be checked. A voltage drop below 44V DC may cause unstable operation or prevent PoE receivers connected to the module from starting up after a restart. The modules can be powered from external power supplies via additional POWER screw terminals. To ensure the PoE devices are powered correctly, the voltage must be higher than 44V.
