The BCS-SD15/12/48 power supply is designed to power devices with a nominal voltage of 12V via a PoE line. The unit is powered from a 48V PASSIVE PoE line and provides a stabilised output voltage of 12V via an additional DC plug. The converter’s output also provides a 48V power supply fed from the module’s input, plus LAN communication. The unit steps down the 48V–56V PoE voltage to 12V, enabling the power supply of, for example, additional IR illuminators; however, the combined power consumption of the camera and illuminator must not exceed the power rating of the converter’s power supply and the rated current of that supply; otherwise, the system will not function.

The module is a convenient solution to installation problems for IP devices and enables, amongst other things:

• the use of standard structured cabling based on UTP twisted-pair cable
• aesthetically pleasing installation of a complete power supply and transmission solution within the UTP cable path
• the creation of distributed monitoring systems with a centralised power supply
