The Ajax FireProtect white wireless smoke detector is designed to detect fires within the protected area. 

The detector detects smoke via an infrared transmitter and a photodetector. These components are housed in a special smoke chamber. Should smoke particles enter the chamber, 

the photodetector detects distortions in the infrared light beam. If there is a lot of smoke, the distortion of the light beam increases, and the detector sends a wireless signal

 to the Ajax Hub smart fire alarm control panel, which triggers the siren.
